David A. Church Sr.

David A. Church Sr., age 82, of 1710 Swift Hollow Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, August 17, 2004 at his residence following a lengthy illness. A native of Johnson County, he was born March 26, 1922 to the late James and Arrie Swift Church. In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by two sons, David A. Church Jr. and Dennis M. Church. He was married a number of years to the late Lois S. Church. He was a farmer and had also retired from Burlington Industries. David was a member, for a number of years, of the Johnson County Rescue Squad. He loved to watch wildlife and get together with his family and friends. He was a member of Dewey Church of Christ. David was an Army Veteran having served in World War II. David is survived by two sons, Bob Church and wife Helen of Nashville, Tennessee and John Church of Mountain City, Tennessee; five sisters, Marjorie Church, Stella Smiley, Eva June Hedge, Lois Gurney, all of Mountain City, Tennessee and Della Mae Magnus of Saskatchewan , Canada; three grandchildren, Michelle Bassett, David Church, both of California and Chris Church of Nashville, Tennessee. Several nieces, nephews and a number of friends in the Doe Valley Community also survive. Fuenral Services for David will be held at 8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 19, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Henson to officiate. The family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. prior to Services at the Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Judes or to The Shriners. The family would like to thank Home Health House Call and a special thanks to Mary and Gail.
