David Arthur Stout, age 91, of 2185 Slabtown Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, January 15, 2004 at the Watauga Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, he was born March 09, 1912 to the late W.C. and Mary Marinda Sweeney Stout. David was a retired farmer and carpenter, enjoyed fox hunting and was of the Baptist faith. David was preceded in death by his parents, wife Amanda E. Stout who passed away in 1998, two brothers; Clarence Stout and Tommy Stout and four sisters; Verna Burrow, Ama Belle Mottern, Onnie Spadley and Annis Stanton. David is survived by one son; David A. "Buddy" Stout of Newark, Delaware, two daughters; Lillian King of Chesapeake, Virginia and Lena Davis of Hickory, North Carolina, six grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for David Arthur Stout will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 18, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Interment will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons and special friends. Honorary Pallbeaers are Dr. John Whitlock, Fred Wilson, Otho Mullins and Bud Parks. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, January 17, 2004 at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.
