Dayton Roark, age 82, of 2848 Stage Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away Friday, April 9, 2004 following a brief illness. A native of Creston, North Carolina, he was born May 17, 1921 to the late Roy and Lina Roark. Dayton enjoyed playing checkers with family and friends, gardening and the outdoors. He was of the Baptist Faith. In addition to his parents, Dayton was preceded in death by four brothers; Griffie Roark, Hillman Roark, McGrady Roark and Capp Roark, two sisters; Murl Allen and Retha Johnson and two nephews; Jerry Johnson and Eddie Roark. He is survived by four nieces; Helen Isdell of Mountain City, Tennessee, Wilma Price of Pine Mountain, North Carolina, Phyllis Scott of Walkertown, North Carolina and Linda Willard of Winston Salem, North Carolina, four nephews; Coy Roark of Mountain City, Tennessee, Douglas Roark of Conowingo, Maryland, James Johnson of Winston Salem, North Carolina and David Roark of Elizabethton, Tennessee and several great and great-great nieces and nephews. Graveside Services for Dayton will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2004 from the Allen Family Cemetery with Rev. Spencer Roark to officiate. Active Pallbearers will be Dwayne Lay, Coy Roark, Jeff King, Doug Roark, Ed Roark, Norman Price, Steve Isdell and Mike Roark.
