Dean Garland, age 63, of 2146 Sluder Road, Shady Valley, Tenn. Passed away,Monday, March 31, 2003, at his residence following an extended illness. He was a native of Johnson County and was born June 24, 1939 to the late Sam and Julia Campbell Garland. He was also preceded in death by (2) Brothers, Reford Garland and Herbert Garland. He worked for Bonham Brothers Orchard and was a Member of the Shady Valley Baptist Church. Survivors: Wife: Carolyn Snyder Garland, of the home (1) Son : Mike and Wife, Leisha Garland, Troy, Ohio (2) Sisters: Helen Greer, Mountain City, TN Ruby Price, Shady Valley, TN (2) Brothers: Randall Garland, Shady Valley,TN Stanley Garland, Bristol, TN (3) Grandchildren: Hannah Garland, Troy, Ohio Rebecca Garland, Troy, Ohio John Garland, Troy, Ohio Special Friends: Mike and Carol Williams, Jack and Phyllis Hutchinson Several Nieces and Nephews Funeral services for Dean Garland, age 63, of 2146 Sluder Road, Shady Valley, TN will be held 7:30 P. M. Thursday from the Chapel of the Henson Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Porter to officiate. Graveside services and burial will be held 10:00 A. M. Friday from the Gentry Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: George Garland, Mike Williams, Odell Wallace, R. D. Garland , Huey Long and Chris Foley. Honorary Palllbearers will be: Jack Hutchins, Delos Walker, Taylor Scott, Lester Morley. In Lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Gideons International. The family will receive Friends from 5:30 PM till 7:30 PM Thursday at the Henson Funeral Home Chapel.
