Denver L. Gregg, age 91, of 347 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City passed away, Saturday, August 19, 2006 at his residence following a lengthy illness. Mr. Gregg was a native of Johnson County and was born June 25, 1915 to the late Will and Bertie Gregg. He was also preceded in death by a brother and a sister. He was a Charter member and Deacon of Liberty Christian Church, past President, Secretary and Treasurer of the Johnson County Lions club, former County Commissioner and loved gardening, fishing, hunting and camping and being with his family. Survivors include his wife of 67 years, Mrs Maude Gregg of the home One daughter: Margaret Kilgore of Mountain City One granddaughter: Kelly Kilgore of Mountain City One grandson: Charles Kilgore of Mountain City One great grandson: Cordel Kilgore of Wilkesboro, NC Several nieces and nephews also survived Funeral services will be held 3:00 p. m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 from the Liberty Christian Church with Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Elaine and Clifton Moody. Burial will follow in the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers : Steve Triplett, Bruce Triplett, Bill Adams, John Triplett, Bob Eller and Jack Eller. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Dr. Floyd Barker, Members of the Johnson County Lions Club and the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City 37683. The family will receive friends from 2 until 3:00 p. m. Tuesday, August 22, 2006 prior the services and other times friends may call at the family residence, 347 Berry Branch Road, Mountain City at anytime. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad.
