Proffitt Lane, Butler, TN passed away on Thursday, December 29, 2011, at the Pine Ridge Nursing Home, Elizabethton, TN. He was born on November 4, 1930, in Dante, VA to the late Louie Harrison Proffitt and was preceded in death by one brother Charles Proffitt. His hobbies included a rock collection, his animals and spending time with his grandchildren. Survivors include: his wife, Doris J. Proffitt, Butler, TN; two daughters: Ruby White and husband Tim, Peru, IN and Gloria Hathorn and husband Leon, Butler, TN; one son: Charles Proffitt and wife Betsy, Butler, TN; several sisters, brothers, grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews also survive. A graveside service will be conducted on Wednesday, January 4, 2012, at 4 p.m. from the Proffitt-Fletcher Cemetery with Rev. Roy Wilson to officiate. Pallbearers will be friends.
