Dorthy Eastridge, age 73, of 163 Oak View Street, Mountain City, TN, passed away on June 12, 2005, at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Johnson County, she was born on October 16, 1931 to the late Clate and Sallie Mock Tester. Along with her parents she was preceded in death by one brother, Truett Tester. She was a former Coordinator at the Johnson County Senior Center and was a member of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church where she was a member of the choir and a former pianist. She was also a pianist for Nelson's Chapel and Roans Creek Baptist Churches. Survivors include her husband, James Eastridge of the home; two step-daughters: Teresa Elrod and Debbie Christophel, both of Fairfield, OH; one sister, Jennie Lee Mink, Mountain City; two nieces: Sharon Davis and Donna Kerley, both of Mountain City; one nephew, Eugene Tester, Mountain City; one great-niece, Priscilla Davis, Mountain City; two great-nephews: Warren and Will Kerley, both of Mountain City; three step-grandchildren also survive. Funeral Services for Dorthy Eastridge will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 15, 2005, from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Norman and Rev. Derl McCloud officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Pleasant Grove Choir. Graveside Services will follow in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be: Sam Wilson, David Forrester, Tom Kerley, Gene Hackney, Eugene Tester, and Jerry McCloud. Honorary Pallbearers will be: Deacons of the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, Dr. John Whitlock, and Dr. Flint Gray. A visitation will be held from 1 to 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, prior to the services at the funeral home chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 163 Oak View Street, Mountain City, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, TN, 37683.
