Dorothy Gentry, born on November 12, 1921, passed away on October 29, 2025, at the Mountain City Care Center. She was a beloved member of her community and a dedicated member of First Christian Church. Dorothy had a passion for quilting and gardening. She loved taking care of others and always prioritized attending church services whenever she could. Dorothy had a very kind and giving heart. She had a passion for quilting, gardening and snuff.
Dorothy is survived by her daughter, Janie Trivette (Brian) of Sugar Grove, North Carolina, and her sons, Bob Gentry (Betty) of Mountain City, Tennessee, and Roger Gentry (Wanda) of Mountain City, Tennessee. She also leaves behind thirteen grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, daughter in laws, Shelby Gentry (Paul) and Linda Gentry (Bernice); as well as her special friend, Mary Nave.
She was preceded in death by her parents, E.O. Absher and Laura Owens Absher; husband, Eugene Gentry; as well as her daughter, Darlene Dunn, and two sons, Paul Gentry and Burnice Gentry.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 1, 2025, from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Dwayne Dickson to officiate. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Wilson Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be six grandsons.
Honorary pallbearers are her grandchildren, great grandchildren and great- great grandchildren.
