Dorothy Guy, age 72, of 135 Maple Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, August 8, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. A native of Johnson County, she was born February 25, 1932 to the late William and Pearl Tester Smith. In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by two brothers, Kermit and Wade Smith; three sisters, Georgia McElyea, Bertha Cornett and Opal Austin and two grandchildren, Jeff Norris and Brandy Courtner. She was a homemaker and enjoyed reading. Dorothy was a member of the Vaughts Gap Baptist Church. Survivors include two sisters, Virginia Brown and Creet Forrester; two brothers, Bart Smith and Bruce Smith; four daughters, Sherry Stout and husband Howard, Loretta Jenkins and husband Jimmy, Patty Guy, all of Mountain City, Tennessee and Shelby McKenzie and husband Bob of Hampton, Tennessee; three sons, Scott Guy, Chris Guy and Mitchell Guy, all of Mountain City, Tennessee; twelve grandchildren and seven great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Dorothy will be held at 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, August 10, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Harvey White and Rev. Bruce Simcox to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Megan Pardue and Dreama Smith. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 11, 2004 from the Snyder Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Mike Austin, Bob McKenzie, Larry Smith, Bob Smith, Jimmy Jenkins and Howard Stout. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Donald Walters, Dr. Kahn, Bart Smith and Bruce Smith. The family will receive friends from 6:30p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday prior to Services at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times friends may call at the residence.
