Mrs. Dorothy Tucker, age 86, passed away Monday morning April 23, 2007 Mrs. Tucker was born April 16, 1921, to the late David and Belzona Holcombe Knott. Due to the early death of her mother she was raised by the Starling Holcombe family of Cummings Georgia. During World War II, Dorothy met a young Soldier, Ellis Tucker in Atlanta, Georgia,with whom she married and moved toTennessee. Ellis and Dorothy later managed their own business, The Pleasant Brothers Service Station and Grill, then she worked at Pleasant Brothers Grocery until she retired at age 67. She was a member of the Little Doe Baptist Church. Dorothy loved her church and the Doeville Community in which she lived. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Ellis Tucker in 1998, by an infant brother George, Step-sisters, Betty and Shirley Knott, Father in law and Mother in law, Herbert and Matilda Tucker, Sisters and Brothers Charles and Eudine Tucker, Sally Tucker, Elbert and Sue Tucker,Troy Tucker, Warren Tucker , Karl Pleasant and Bill and Rhoda Shuey. Survivors: Daughter and Son in law Linda and Frank Jewett, Doylestown, Ohio, Grandchildren, Frank Jewett, Lisa Jewett, and Matthew Jewett, Doylestown, Ohio Stepsister and Brother in law, Art and Verna D. Jacklin, Port Orange, FL Sisters in law, Louise Pleasant, Butler, TN, Florence Tucker, Johnson City, TN, Ellen Tucker, Bristol, VA, Genieve Tucker, Jacksonville, FL Nieces and Nephews, Jenny Lynn Farthing, Trula Haley, Ann Story, Joyce Holcombe, Mike and Dick Pleasant, Allison, Jimmy and Chris Holcombe, Margaret Williams, Betty and Ray Phillips Several Great nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral service for Dorothy Tucker will be conducted at 7:00 P.M. Friday April 27, 2007 at the Henson Funeral Home Chapel with Pastors Kreg Smith and Charles Morefield officiating, Graveside service and burial will be at 10:00 A.M. Saturday April 28, 2007 at the Butler Memorial Cemetery. Music will be by the Little Doe Baptist Church Choir. Pallbearers will, Frank Jewett Jr., Mike Pleasant, Richard Cable, Sid Smithdeal, Truett Pleasant and Tony Milam. Honorary pallbearers will be, Dick Pleasant, Ed Atwood, Howard Courtner and Scotty Scott. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Little Doe Baptist Church Building Fund 323 Doe Creek Road, Butler, TN 37640. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 7:00 P.M.
