Obituary for: Earl M. Perkins Mr. Earl M. Perkins, age 84, of 766 Sandy Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Thursday, July 10, 2003 at the Johnson City Medical Center following a brief illness. He was a native of Johnson County and was born September 29, 1918 to the late Roscoe and Alice Potter Perkins. He was preceded in death by his parents, one sister; Blanche Stout, an infant brother Bruce Perkins, one half-brother; Hartley Potter. Mr. Perkins resided in Wasco, Oregon until 1998, when he retired and returned to make Mountain City his home. He was an avid reader, enjoyed fishing and was a World War II Army Veteran. Survivors include: (1) Son: Jimmy Tester, Mountain City, TN (3) Sisters: Ruby Slemp, Mountain City, TN Cleo Colson, Erwin, TN Doris Hughes, Beltsville, MD (2) Brothers: Eddie Perkins, Mountain City, TN Shelton Perkins, Mountain City, TN (2) Grandsons: Jeff Tester, Mountain City, TN Todd Tester, Mountain City, TN Two Great-Grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home in charge of the Arrangements. Funeral services for Earl M. Perkins will be held 8:00 p.m. Saturday, July 12, 2003 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Active Pallbearers will be: Tom Icenhour, Larry Perkins, Perry Perkins, Ronnie Perkins, Jim Fritz and Tom Colson. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard 2:00 p.m. Sunday, July 13, 2003 at Hodge Cemetery. The family will receive Friends from 7-8:00 p.m. prior to services at the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. Friends may also call the home of Eddie Perkins, 1361 Sandy Road at anytime.
