Earl J. Potter

February 18, 1937 — April 30, 2016

Earl  Potter, age 78, of 727 McEwen Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Saturday, April 30, 2016 at his residence.  Earl was born at Shouns, Tennessee, February 18, 1937 to the late Dallas Potter and Mamie Addie Potter Forrester.  In addition, to his parents he was preceded by a daughter, Tammy Potter.  He was a former timber worker.

His hobbie was doing carpenter work and he loved spending time with his grandkids. 

Survivors include his wife, Ida Ruth Gambill Potter.  His children, James Potter and Mark Potter.  Grandchildren are Tammy Smith and husband Billy and Kevin Potter.

Great grandchildren are Abagail Garland and Jadynn Smith.  God- Grandchildren, Hannah Mahaney and husband Matt; Ben James and wife Whitney and Zeb James.

Great God Grandchildren, Molly Kate Mahaney and Marlee James.  Brothers are Thurl Potter and Elmer Potter and sister is Betty Johnson.  Several nieces and nephews also survive. 

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, May 3, 2016 at 5:00 PM from the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.  The family will receive friends from 4:00 PM until 5:00 PM prior to the funeral service with Daniel Jones officiating. Graveside service and burial will follow in the Hammons Cemetery in Forge Creek. Pallbearers will be Ben James, Zeb James, Billy Smith, Ben Miller, Jeff Potter and Jose. Honorary pallbearers Bob Dunn, Robert Olen and Bud Hatley.

Friends may call at the residence 727 McEwen Road or at the residence of a granddaughter, Tammy Smith, 233 Pedro Shoun Lane, Court 105, Mountain City, Tennessee at anytime.
