Edgar Lee Norris

Edgar Lee Norris, age 67, of 108 Georgia Street, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord Friday, January 16, 2004 in the Watauga Medical Center. A native of Johnson County, Tennessee, he was born February 16, 1936 to the late Willard C. and Ethel Cordelia Norris. Edgar retired from Bernhardt Furniture Company, Plant 7 in Lenoir, North Carolina where he was employed as Maintenance Mechanic. He was of the Baptist Faith. Edgar was preceded in death by his parents, wife Oma Jane Norris, who passed away in 1989, one brother; Robert Norris and one sister; Chloe Combs. He is survived by two sons; Kenny Norris and wife Ginger of Mountain City, Tennessee and Jamie Norris and wife Sarah of Lenoir, North Carolina, two daughters, Debbie Gentry and friend Mark Church of Mountain City, Tennessee and Brenda Lea Amburgey and husband Randy of Lenoir, North Carolina, three sisters, Ruth Stout of Mountain City, Tennessee, Mae Griffin of Lenoir, North Carolina and Pauline Minks of Marshville, North Carolina, one brother; Walter D. Norris of Kansas City, Missouri, four grandchildren; Travis Gentry, Timmy Gentry, Kody Norris and Luke Norris, father-in-law; E.R. "Bell" Eller, special friends; Rob Reece, Earl Seagles, Carl Stewart, Bill and Pat Taylor, Jim and Mary Alice Norris, Earl and Naomi Isaacs and all of his friends at Lois' Caf. Funeral Services for Edgar Lee Norris will be conducted 8:00 p.m.Sunday, January 18, 2004 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Frank Woods to officiate. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. prior to service and at other times at the home of son, Kenny Norris, 110 Georgia Street, Mountain City, Tennessee. Graveside Services will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 19, 2004 from the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be Mike Eller, Brian Eller, Jim Norris, Jack Eller, Earl Isaccs, Earl Seagle, Randy Eller and Bill Taylor.
