Edith Potter

Edith Potter, age 77, of 2399 Campbell Road, Mountain City, TN passed away Saturday, March 8, 2014 at her residence following an extended illness. She was born September 10, 1936 to the late Charlie Anderson and Altie Moody Anderson. Edith was a member of Victory Chapel Cowboy Church and her hobbies included gardening, flowers, quilting and she loved being a mother, grandmother and homemaker. Edith also worked in the cafeteria worker at JCHS for a number of years. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband James Lester Garland; her second husband Truman Potter; a son Danny Curtis Garland; a grandson Richie Garland; one great grandson Dominique Garland; sisters Clara Lunceford, Inez Shell and Cathleen Arnold; brothers: Norman Anderson, John Anderson, Jim Anderson and Raymond Anderson. Survivors include: two daughters: Loretta Laws and husband Buddy and Debra Garland, all of Mountain City, TN; one son: Loren Garland and wife Judy of Mountain City, TN; stepson Kevin Potter of Mountain City, TN; one brother: Arvis Anderson of Mountain City, TN; grandchildren: Angie Clawson and husband Joe; Amanda Leonard; Aaron Leonard and wife Stacy; Brian Garland and wife Leslie; Brad Garland and wife Ginger; Allen Winter and wife Jennifer; Justin Garland and wife Amanda; Everette Garland; Regan Garland; Jessica Garland and Danielle Garland; great grandchildren: Triston and Cameron Clawson; Aden, Mason and Abby Sluder; Addison Leonard; Solomon, Alanah and Presnell Garland; Mason Garland; Justice, Zack, Nathan and Austin Garland; Brittany and Josh Matheson; Jacob Winters; Mileaha, Jaida, Hayley, Tyler, Cory and Damien Garland. Special friends Lou Wasson, Eileen Matherly and Special Nurse Ivy Tester also survive. Funeral services for Edith Potter will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 11, 2014 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Carroll Hayworth officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:30 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will be held t 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 12, 2014 in Phillippi Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Justin Garland, Aaron Leonard, Dallas Keenan, Brian Garland, Allen Winters, Triston Clawson and Joe Clawson. Honorary pallbearers will be Buddy Laws, Glen Winters and Roy Fritts. Everyone is asked to assemble at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday to go in procession to the cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, 7272 Greenville Avenue, Dallas, TX 75231.
