Edna Earle Allen

Edna Earle Allen, age 96, of 919 Medical Park Drive, passed away on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 in The Mountain City Care Center. She was born December 6, 1927 in Watauga, North Carolina to the late Emery and Rosa Burkett Ragan. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Sarah Ann Calhoun and her husbands, Carl Townsend and Hardin Allen; brothers, Edward Ragan and Benjamin Ragan; sisters, Martha Ward and Betty Clark.

Edna enjoyed working jigsaw puzzles, word search books, playing bingo and doing all the crafts at the care center, where she was also a corn hole champion.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son, Jon and wife Inge of Banner Elk, North Carolina; grandsons, Timothy Townsend of Hickory, North Carolina, Warren Woodard of Mountain City, Tennessee and Dustin Woodard of Mountain City, Tennessee; granddaughter, Tara Davis and husband Dustie of Zionville, North Carolina; great grandchildren, Kayden Davis and Sarah Davis of Zionville, North Carolina and Zayla Grayson of Creston, North Carolina; several nieces and nephews; Wiley Thomas and a special roommate and loving, caring, friend, Gretchen Campbell.

Funeral service for Edna will be conducted on Monday, June 3, 2024 at 11 am in the Buford Lipford Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Rick Cornejo officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:30 am until the service begins. She will be laid to rest in the Arnold Cemetery.
