Edna Louise Bowlin

Edna Louise Bowlin passed away peacefully at the Elizabeth House on June 25, 2026 after a period of declining health.

She was born in Johnson County Tennessee to James and Rose Kilby on February 28, 1936 and lived in Tennessee until she moved with her husband and children to Hendersonville, NC in 1961. She worked for over 40 years in the textile industry. She was an avid gardener growing a wide variety of flowers for all who passed by her house to enjoy, she loved canning and freezing stuff out of her garden for her family to enjoy. Most of all she was a loving daughter, wife, mother, and grandmother, always willing to help with babysitting the grandkids and great grandkids.

She was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband of 58 years, George Bowlin, a son, James Michael Bowlin, siblings, Belle Phipps, Nanny Roarke, Marie Widener, Mabel Payne, Dorothy Kulin and Millard Kilby all of Tennessee, brother Coy Ray Kilby of Lenior, NC.

Survived by three children, Rickey (Susan), Teresa Sitton (Billy), Danny (Angela), a daughter in-law, Pamela Bowlin and Denise Barron, who she loved like a daughter, two sister in-laws Shirley Morgan of Hendersonville, NC and Bessie Dodson of Morristown, TN, and brother in-law, John Barrington, Bennettsville, SC. Also survived by 14 grandchildren, Eric, Melissa, Stephanie, Heather, Crystal, 8rent, Terry, Timmy, Tommy, Angela, Jamie, Mike, Amanda and Jacob, 25 great grandchildren, Kayla, Jaclyn Ashley, Patrick, Sydney, Zackary, Savannah, Brandon K, Olivia, Titan, Chenille, Sabrina, Morgan, Ashley S, Chase, Zoe, Dakota, Joneva, Brandon, Haley, Riley, Sawyer, Montgomery, Hunter, Abigail and Jessie, and 7 great-great grandchildren, Evelyn, Finley, Lillie Anne, Caden, Oakley, Mahalie, Brylee, Sawyer S., Mason and Madison and numerous nieces and nephews.

A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 538 Tracy Grove Rd, Hendersonville, NC 28792 to be officiated by Reverend Tyler Pegram

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Elizabeth House, 581 S. Allen Road, Flat Rock, NC or to Dana Baptist Church, P.O. Box 377, Dana, NC 28724.

Mom will be truly missed, but heaven became blessed when she entered heaven's gate.
