Edward W. Horne, age 76, of 1487 Pleasant Valley Road, Mountain City, Tennessee went to be with the Lord, Saturday, May 17, 2003 at his residence after a lengthy illness. Mr. Horne was a native of Johnson County, Tennessee and was born January 29, 1927 to the late John and Molly Heaton Horne. He was preceded in death by a brother, Barton Horne. He was a faithful and loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather, a construction operator. also a former deacon and member of the First Freewill Baptist Church. Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Marjorie Crosswhite Horne, of the home (1) Daughter and Son-In-Law: Jeanie and Randolph Whitt, Pulaski, Virginia (2) Sons: Jerry and wife, Peggy Horne, Mountain City, Tennessee Gary and wife, Kelley Horne, Mountain City, Tennessee (2) Brothers: Junior Horne, Perryman, Maryland David Horne, Jonesville, North Carolina (5) Sisters: Mary Smiley, Morganton, North Carolina Francis Baynard, Morganton, North Carolina Peggy Sheets, Powder Springs, Georgia Sharon Huskins, Mountain City, Tennessee Carolyn Woods, Mountain City, Tennessee Nine Grandchildren: Missy, Angie, Crissy, Jonathan, Eddie, Randi, Anthony, Amber, and Jamie. Four Great Grandchildren: Zackary, Adein, Noah and Avery. Many Nieces and Nephews Hux-Lipford Funeral Home is in charge of the Arrangements. Funeral services for Edward W. Horne will be conducted at 8:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 21, 2003 at the First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Frank Woods and Rev. Ray Slemp to officiate. Music will be conducted by the church choir. Graveside services will be 11:00 A. M. Thursday, May 22, 2003 at the Phillippi Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and nephews. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. John Whitlock, Dr. Buddy Clayton, and men of the First Freewill Baptist Church. The family will receive friends from 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Wednesday prior to the funeral service. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime. Hux-Lipford Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
