Ms. Ella Maude Minks, age 90, of Ozark, Alabama, formerly of Mountain City, passed away Friday, March 29, 2013 in Oak View Manor after an extended illness. She was the daughter of the late Ross and Ida Minks. Ella was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. She was a graduate of Johnson County High School. In the 1940's she worked in Johnson City, TN and then began working at Smithey's Department Store in Mountain City and worked there until the store closed. As her health began to decline she moved to Alabama approximately ten years ago to be near her son. Ella loved word search, watching football and baseball on TV. She especially loved watching the Atlanta Braves and St. Louis Cardinals. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, James Minks. Survivor's include: one son: L.C. Minks and wife Jerlene of Ozark, Alabama; two sisters: Edna Leonard of Jonesborough, TN and Nina Green of St. Charles, VA; one grandson: Ross Minks; four step grandchildren: Clara Brown, Bonnie Caldwell, Sherry Hood and Jack Hodge; four great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services for Ella Maude Minks will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, April 3, 203 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Jim Norman officiating. The family will receive friends from 12:00 p.m.-2:00 p.m. prior to the service. Graveside service and interment will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be members of her church family.
