Ellen Dunn

We are saddened to announce the passing of Ellen Melissa Dunn, age 95, who passed away on Monday, February 20, 2023 at the Johnson County Community Hospital. She was born on January 26, 1928 to the late Roby J Greer and Virda Martin. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Russell Dunn; son Malcom Dunn; sisters, Loretta Tolliver, Sue Miller, Tishia Miller and Mandelene Morley. Ellen and her four sisters were affectionately known as the "Greer Girls".

Ellen was a member of the Shady Valley Baptist Church. She loved working in her roses and blueberry patches. She enjoyed refinishing antiques and cooking on her wood stove. Ellen formally worked at Sperry Univac in Bristol and was a homemaker.

Those left to cherish her memory are her son Gary Dunn and wife Terry of Shady Valley; grandson, Jimmy Ellison of Saltville, VA; four great grandchildren, Holley Ellison of Laurel Bloomery, Alex Vanhoy of Abingdon, VA, Taylor Ellison of Shady Valley and Ashton Ellison of Hyders Gap, VA; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jackie Grindstaff, Verlene Gentry, and Lois Walker.

A graveside service for Ellen will be conducted on Friday, February 24, 2023 at 2 pm in the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens with Stan Hill and Richard Stout to officiate. Visitation will be from 1 - 2 pm prior to the graveside, also at the cemetery.
