Emma W. Mast, age 89, of 1841 Forge Road, Mountain City, TN, passed away on Friday, March 24, 2006, at the Mountain City Care Center. A native of Johnson County, she was born June 30, 1916, to the late Thomas Wilburn Ward and Caroline Arnold Ward. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Hardy Mast; two sons, Tommy and Billy Mast; four sisters: Beulah Stout, Pauline Stout, Peggy Cress, and an infant sister; three brothers: Herman, Frank, and Woodrow Ward. She loved sewing and gardening, was a homemaker, and was a member of the Nelsons Chapel Baptist Church. Survivors include: two daughters: Gail Willis and husband John, Kingsport, TN; Dolly Wilson and husband Freddie, Mountain City, TN; two sons: Eugene Mast and wife Margaret, Mountain City, TN; John Mast, Mountain City, TN; one daughter-in-law, Jessie Mast, Mountain City; five sisters: Wilma Arnold, Hampton, TN; Ruth Dowell, Cincinnati, OH; Willie Dickens, Mountain City, TN; Jenny Steiner, Fort Myers, FL; Allie Eames, Aberdeen, MD; two brothers: Tom Ward, West Grove, PA; and Earl Ward, Fort Myers, FL; six grandchildren: Carol Greever and husband John, Mountain City, TN; Jim Mast, Lenoir, NC; Scott Mast and wife Rhonda, Mountain City, TN; Barbara Brown and husband Hal, Kingsport, TN; Susan Long and husband Gary, Maryville, TN; Darrell Wilson and wife Tara, Mountain City, TN; four great-grandchildren: Melissa Bryant, Jonesborough, TN; David Greever, Mountain City, TN; Sally Snyder and husband Tom, Butler, TN; Aeron Brown, Kingsport, TN; several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Emma Mast will be held at 8:00 p.m. Monday, March 27, 2006, from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Denny and Rev. Richard Stout officiating. Music will be under the direction of the Nelsons Chapel Church Choir. A visitation will be held from 6 until 8:00 p.m. Monday, prior to the funeral service. Graveside services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, March 28, from the Sunset Memorial Park. Family, Pallbearers, and Friends are asked to assemble at the cemetery by 9:45 a.m. Tuesday for graveside services. Pallbearers will be grandsons, grandsons-in-law, great-grandsons, and great-grandsons-in-law. Honorary Pallbearers will be Emma's caregivers at the Mountain City Care Center.
