Emma Kate Stout, age 91, of 13697 Hwy 67 W., Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, January 9, 2007 at the Mountain City Care Center. She was born on March 1, 1915 in Mountain City, Tennessee to the late Charlie and Rebecca Neatherly Simcox. In addition to her parents, Kate was preceded in death by her husband, Lon Stout; daughter and son-in-law, Janet (Stout) and Doyle Wilson; son, Worley Ray Stout; sister, Beatrice Simcox Matheson and brother, Marshall Simcox. She was a retired cook for the Johnson County High School and was also a former employee of Peoples Rexall Drugs of Mountain City. Kate was a member of Little Doe Baptist Church and had also served as Sunday School teacher at the church. She loved gardening and flowers. She is survived by one brother, M.D. Simcox and wife Bertha of Mountain City, Tennessee; two grandchildren: Karen Davis and husband Danny and Tanya Johnson and husband Mark; three great granddaughter: Abbie Webb, Nick Jenkins and Alec Johnson; one great-great grandchild, Reagan Webb; several nieces and nephews and many, many special friends. Funeral Services for Emma Kate Stout will be conducted at 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 12, 2007 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Bruce Simcox and Rev. Kreg Smith to officiate. The family will receive friends from 12-1:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the Services, at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Tony Simcox, Aaron Simcox, Edwin Matheson, Paul Barr, Nick Jenkins, Gerald Jenkins, Richard Cable and Danny Davis. Honorary Pallbearers are: Roger Morrison and Bruce Simcox. A special thank you to Little Doe Baptist Church for their love and kindness and to the staff and nurses of Mountain City Care Center for their excellent care.
