Ernest A. Fritts, age 75, of 236 Sunset Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Tuesday, August 3, 2004 at Wellmont's Bristol Regional Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, he was born August 31, 1928 to the late Dan B. and Virgie Gentry-Fritts. In addition to his parents, Ernest was preceded in death by one brother, Robert Fritts. Ernest was a retired carpenter. He was a member of State Line Baptist Church and had attended First Christian Church for 51 years. Ernest is survived by his wife of 51 years, Lena Curd-Fritts of the home; one daughter, Rebbeca Joyce Tighe and husband Joe of Plano, Texas; one son, Richard Fritts and wife Donna of Mountain City, Tennessee; one sister, Gladys Shumate and husband Lawrence of Damascus, Virginia; three grandchildren, Joseph and Alex Tighe of Plano, Texas and Makayla Fritts of Mountain City, Tennessee. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Ernest will be held at 8:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 from the First Christian Church with Pastor Dwayne Dickson and Mr. Mike Smith to officiate. Music will be under the direction of the First Christian Church Choir. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 7, 2004 from the Sunset Memorial Park. Active Pallbearers will be: Jack Greer, Van Arnold, Steve Arnold, Donald Greer, Roger Gentry, Skip Wills, Jim Lundy and Jeff Fritts. The family will receive friends from 7-8:00 p.m. Friday, August 6, 2004 at the First Christian Church Prior to Services. At other times, friends may call at the residence. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Johnson County Rescue Squad, 203 Vandilla Street, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble at 9:45 a.m. Saturday at Sunset Memorial Park for Graveside Services.
