Ethel Carolyn Gillis, age 86, of 556 Williams Lane, Butler, Tennessee and fomerly of Forrest City, Florida, passed away Wednesday, April 28, 2004. A native of Mt. Clemons, Michigan, she was born June 7th, 1917 to the late Alexander and Carolyn Schroder Hess. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband Edison A. Gillis, Sr. who passed away in 1992. Ethel enjoyed crafts and was a collector of Precious Moments Hummel Figurines. She was a member of Lockhart Baptist Church of Lockhart, Florida and had attended Dyson Grove Baptist Church, Mountain City, Tennessee. Ethel is survived by three sons; Ed Gillis Jr. of Butler, Tennessee, Jay Gillis of Cape Coral, Florida and Jim Gillis of Richmond, Michigan, eleven grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. A Memorial Service for Ethel will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 1st, 2004 from the Dyson Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Leonard Fletcher to officiate.
