Ethel C. Reece, age 94, of 919 Medical Park Drive, and formerly of 1561 Dry Stone Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, October 19, 2004 at the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness. A native of Trade, Tennessee, she was born on June 17, 1910 to the late Arthur and Jane Reece. In addition to her parents, Ethel was preceded in death by her husband, Hillary C. Reece, who passed away in 1981; three grandchildren and several sisters and brothers. Ethel was a homemaker, loved sewing, flowers and was an accomplished artist in drawing. She was a member of the Mountain City Church of Christ. Ethel is survived by three daughters, Beulah Allen (Harold) of Lenoir, NC, Lucille Jenkins (James) of Mountain City, TN and Barbara "Bobbie" Proffitt (Jack) of Elizabethton, TN; four sons, Walter Reece (Ima Jean), Herbert Reece (Betty), all of Mountain City, TN, Claude Reece (Margie) of Fairfield, TX and Clyde Reece of PA; one sister, Ella Mae Combs; one brother, Dolphus Reece, both of Mountain City, TN; twenty grandchildren; several great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ethel will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 22, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Herman Trivette and Mr. Jim Hutchinson to officiate. Music will be under the Direction of Lindsey Debord and the Mountain City Church of Christ Choir. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, October 23, 2004 from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: James Lee Allen, Roger Reece, Ray Jenkins, Jimmy Jenkins, Roger Wayne Reece, David Lee Reece, Dallas Reece, Donald Reece, Eddie Reece, Michael Reece, Mark Reece and Joe Reece. Honorary Pallbearers are: Great Grandchildren of Ethel. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. Friday, Prior to Services, at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence of Lucille Jenkins, 1561 Dry Stone Branch Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Mountain City Care Center, 919 Medical Park Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
