Florence T. Boren, age 94, of 120 Honeysuckle Lane, Mountain City, TN went to be with her Lord on Friday, August 31, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. She was born on April 13, 1913 to the late Tice Thomas and Emma Redd Thomas. She was also proceeded in death by her husband Charlie Boren, who passed away in 1953, and 5 children; Toby Boren, Stedman Boren, Othello Boren, Mary Boren Brown and Iva Lee Boren Anderson, also by 3 brothers; Eugene Thomas, Bill Thomas and Raymond Thomas and 2 sisters; Jennie Thomas Wilson and Edith Thomas Carpenter. Ms. Boren was a member of the Mountain View Pentecostal Church. She was a former treasurer and devotional leader. She was a homemaker and she enjoyed gardening, cooking, quilting and she raised beautiful flowers. Ms. Boren is survived by 8 eight grandchildren; Delores Bowen, Flint, MI, Vangeline Rollins, Lithonia, GA, Patricia Hogan, Bethesda, MA, Brenda Boren, Gray, TN, Lloyd T. Bowen, Flint, MI, Hugh Boren, Johnson City, TN, Gloria Porter, Bristol, VA and Darren Boren, Abingdon, VA and special friends and caregivers; Harold Conley, Ms. Bobbi Smith, Florence ?Flo? Bellamy, Grace Rupard, Tommy Grayson and Trula Muse. Funeral services for Florence T. Boren will be conducted Tuesday, September 4, 2007 at 2:30 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with the Reverend Mark Redd to officiate. Graveside services will follow in the Holy Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. prior to the funeral services. Pallbearers will be men of the Grace Temple Holiness Church.
