Frances Proffitt

Frances Proffitt, age 85, of 600 Clarence Stout Lane, formerly of 1803 Slabtown Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away Friday, March 7, 2008 at Life Care Center of Elizabethton. Ms. Proffitt was the daughter of the late James Laws and Georgie Laws. She was a member of Doe Valley Baptist Church and former member of the choir. Her hobbies included gardening, flowers, and quilting. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James Monroe Proffitt in 2003; one son: Darrell Proffitt; one daughter: Shirley Irene Proffitt; three brothers: Earl Laws, Smith Laws, and Blaine Laws; two sisters: Beulah Fletcher and Pauline Dugger.

Survivors include: two daughters: Margaret Roberts and Sharon Fuentes both of Mountain City, Tennessee; one son: Kenneth Proffitt and wife Colleen of Mountain City, Tennessee; daughter-in-law: Darlene Proffitt of Mountain City, Tennessee; two sisters: Rosalee Hodge of Shady Valley, Tennessee and Irene Shoun of Butler, Tennessee; one brother: Wayne Laws of Butler, Tennessee; two granddaughters: Michelle Proffitt of Mountain City, Tennessee and Cathy Bunting of Butler, Tennessee; six grandsons: Chris Fuentes, Jason Proffitt, Gary Roberts, Wendell Proffitt, Kirby Proffitt and Kevin Proffitt all of Mountain City, Tennessee; seven great grandchildren: Justin Bunting, Adam Roberts, Austin Roberts, Lindsey Proffitt, Aaron Roberts, Katie Adams and Joe Campbell; two great great grandchildren: Hailey Bunting and Lily Adams. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Funeral services for Frances Proffitt will be conducted at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, March 9, 2008 from Doe Valley Baptist Church with Rev. Roy Dowell and Rev. Gary Roberts officiating. Graveside service and interment will follow in Proffitt Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be: Justin Bunting,Aaron Roberts, Wendell Proffitt, Kirby Proffitt, Kevin Proffitt, Jason Proffitt, and Chris Fuentes. Honorary pallbearers will be: Adam Roberts, Glenn Painter, Larry Proffitt, Clifton Proffitt, Don Roberts and Austin Roberts. The family will receive friends from 2:00 - 3:00 p.m. prior to the services.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Doe Valley Fire Department, 283 Slabtown Road, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683.
