Gary Jarvis Ward, age 42, of 233 Pedro Shoun Lane-Lot #18, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, October 10, 2004 at the Johnson City Medical Center following an extended illness. A native of Chester County, Pennsylvania, Gary was born on October 5, 1962 to the late John Claude Ward, who passed away in 1969 and the late Nancy Lucille Dickens, who passed away in 1980. In addition to his parents, Gary was preceded in death by three sisters, Judy Carrol, Annie Bunton and Wanda Miller and two brothers, Walt Ward and Jerry Morefield. He was a 1980 Johnson County High School Graduate. Gary enjoyed fishing and hunting. He was a member of Pine Grove Baptist Church. Gary is survived by his wife, Louise Miller of the home; two sons, Gary Joseph Ward of Butler and John Travis Ward of Mountain City; one step-daughter, Sherry Vanover of Mountain City; one step-son, Terry Miller of Gray; three sisters, Karen Ward, Betty Phipps, both of Mountain City and Dolly Stickney of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; two brothers, Roy Ward of Mountain City and Johnny Ward of Temple, Georgia; two grandchildren, Gavin Ward of Butler and Adam Vanover of Mountain City. Several Nieces, Nephews, Aunts and Uncles also survive. Funeral Services for Gary will be held at 7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Bowman and Rev. Ted Lewis to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Tracy Dickens and Megan Pardue. Graveside Services and Interment will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, October 14, 2004 from the Bakers Gap Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be his two sons, Gary Joseph Ward and John Travis Ward; his two brothers, Roy Ward and Johnny Ward; step-son, Terry Miller and son-in-law Ed Vanover. Honorary Pallbearers are: David Stout and Matt Stout. The Family will receive friends from 5-7:00 p.m. Wednesday, October 13, 2004 from the Funeral Home Chapel prior to Services. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 233 Pedro Shoun Lane-Lot #18, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683. Family, Pallbearers and Friends are asked to assemble at 10:45 a.m. Thursday, at the Cemetery for Services.
