Gene T. Cousins

Gene Cousins, age 83, of Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away October, 26, 2024 at his residence.  He was born May 8, 1941 to the late Forrest Julian Cousins and Estelle Ard Cousins.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his daughter, Shanda Cousins.

Gene started his commendable career in the United States Navy.  After being honorably discharged , he worked with the NCDOC.   After retiring from North Carolina, he found his home in the mountains of Tennessee, where he journeyed into his next adventure at TDOC.  He was also  an axillary deputy for the Johnson County Sheriffs Department.  Gene was a member of Dewey Christian Church.  He loved the Lord and his family.  He had many friends and family that he looked after as he always wanted to be the caretaker.  To know Gene was to love him.

Funeral service for Gene will be conducted at 2:30 pm Friday, November 1, 2024 at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Bud Gentry officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12:30 pm - 2:15 pm prior to the service.  Graveside service will follow in the Brookshire Cemetery with military honors accorded by The Johnson County Honor Guard
At other times friends may visit the home at 142 Sundown Road, Mountain City, Tennessee between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm.

In lieu of flowers, monetary donations  may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.

Pallbearers will be Wyatt Cousins, Dillon Cousins, Jesse Jenkins, William Lambert, Bobby Taylor, Brian Eller and Ruben Garcia.

Honorary pallbearers are Arlen Sala, Shawn Phillips, Stacy Oaks, David Sexton and The Johnson County Sheriffs Department.
