Geneva L. Clemens, age 71, of 365 Forge Road, Mountain City, Tennessee passed away peacefully at her residence Thursday, March 20, 2008. Ms. Clemens was a member of Nelsons Chapel Baptist Church where she was a Pre-K Sunday School helper and worked with Childrens Church, to know her was to love her. She was the daughter of the late Wade and Hazel Vanover. Geneva was a former Levi employee and a food service worker at the Senior Citizens Center. Her hobbies included crocheting, quilting, crafts, and she especially loved children. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Clemens, and a brother, James Vanover.
Survivors include: one daughter: Kathy Clemens and fianc Donnie Gwinn of Mountain City, Tennessee; one son: John Clemens, Jr. and wife Addrena of Mountain City, Tennessee; one sister: Jean Vanover of Creston, North Carolina; two brothers: Tillson Vanover and V. L. Vanover both of Creston, North Carolina; one granddaughter: Nickie Creese; three grandsons: Richie McElyea, John Clemens III and Matthew Clemens; one great-granddaughter: Hailey McElyea; three great grandsons: Austin McElyea, Blaine Creese, and Travis Creese; several nieces and nephews and special friends: Norma and Ray Wade, Nancy Vanover, Minnie and Bob Miller and many others.
Funeral services for Geneva L. Clemens will be conducted at 12:00 p.m. Tuesday, March 25, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Lonnie Denney, Sam Icenhour and Rev. Donnie Cox officiating. Graveside services and interment will follow in Johnson Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Richie McElyea, John Clemens III, Matthew Clemens, Donnie Gwinn, Brent Creese and Tim Vanover. Honorary pallbearers will be Bob Miller and Ray Wade. The family will receive friends from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. prior to the services.
