Geneva Stansberry, age 77, of 1055 Doe Creek Road, Butler, Tennessee, passed away on Sunday, January 28, 2007 at the North Side Hospital, Johnson City, Tennessee. She was born on April 28, 1929 to the late Nick and Crissie Grindstaff Smith. In addition to her parents, Geneva was preceded in death by her husband, Hyder Stansberry, who passed away in 1999; two brothers and one sister. She was a former employee of Blue Ridge Shoe Company. Geneva enjoyed cooking, gardening and canning. She was a member of Rock Springs Baptist Church. Geneva is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Jimmy Griffey of Butler, Tennessee; one son, Charlie Stansberry and Kathy Church of Butler, Tennessee; three sisters: Virginia Harmon of Butler, Tennessee, Nell Harper and Judy Parsons, both of Pennsylvania; two grandchildren: Shelly Atwood and husband Jackie of Mountain City, Tennessee and Tracey Griffey of Butler, Tennessee; several nieces and nephews and many, many dear friends. Funeral Services for Geneva Stansberry will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 31, 2007 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Kreg Smith and Rev. Harvey White to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Rock Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: Fred Harper, David Harper, K-Mike Parsons, Beaver Cornell, Larry Greer and Blaine Branch. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the Service on Wednesday, at the funeral home. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 1055 Doe Creek Road, Butler, Tennessee 37640.
