George Albert Walters, age 68, of Mountain City, TN passed away at his residence Wednesday, April 9, 2014. He was the son of the late Otto K. Walters and Angelina A. Walters. George was a member of First Christian Church where he made funnel cakes for their block party. Also, he was formerly a Joy Bus driver for Coventry Hills Church of Christ in Pottstown, Pennsylvania. His hobbies included fishing and ham radios. George was a US Army veteran having served during the Vietnam era. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers: Jimmy and Sonny Walters. Survivors include: his wife of 46 1/2 years, Kathleen Walters, of the home; one daughter: Cynthia L. Wilcox and husband Gary of Mountain City, TN; one son: Theodore James Walters of Mountain City, TN; two sisters: Marie Walters of Las Vegas, Nevada and Paulette Wilhelm of Stowe, Pennsylvania; grandchildren: Amanda Wilcox, Jonathan Wilcox, Ashelyn Walters, Lauren Walters and Emily Monger; and several nieces and nephews. A memorial service for George Albert Walters will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, April 13, 2014 from First Christian Church with Mr. Dwayne Dickson, Mr. Scott Plyler and Mr. Ken Caswell officiating. Music will be by First Christian Church Choir. Military honors will be accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 3:00 p.m .- 4:00 p.m. prior to the memorial service. Honorary pallbearers will be Joel White and Jerry Clark. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in honor of George may be made to the Food Share Program at First Christian Church.
