George F. Icenhour, age 77, of 200 Morley Lane, Shady Valley, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, March 18th, 2004 following an extended illness. A native of Dorchester, Virginia, he was born February 2nd, 1927 to the late Jonah Dowell Icenhour and Iva Lee Morefield Icenhour. He was formally employed by Burlington Industries, where he was employed for 20 years, and by K-Vat Food Stores of Abingdon, Virginia. George was a Veteran having served in the United States Air Force Infantry during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post #1956 of Kingsport, Tennessee. He enjoyed bowling, fishing and billiards. He attended the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church for the past 54 years. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, Jim Icenhour, Buford Icenhour and Luther Icenhour and one sister, Wilma Jean Icenhour. George is survived by his wife, Marjorie Othella Morley Icenhour, of the home; two daughters, Patricia Jane Icenhour Dunn and Kathryn Elaine Icenhour both of Charlottesville, Virginia; five sisters, Mrytle Eller, Helen Powers, Nannie Phillips and husband J.R., Barbara Balsizer and husband Bob, all of Ashland, Ohio and Mary Faye Townsley of Clyde, Ohio; two brothers, Kenneth Icenhour and wife Nancy and Gene Icenhour and wife Polly all of Ashland, Ohio and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for George F. Icenhour will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, March 21st, 2004 from the Shady Valley Presbyterian Church, where he will lie in state one hour prior to Service, with Dr. Tom Peake to officiate. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Johnson County Honor Guard following Services from the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens. Active Pallbearers will be: Jeff Icenhour, Mark Icenhour, Lester Morley, Teddy Morley, Kermit Morley and Lester Garland. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dick Righter, Delmar Morley, Kenny Icenhour, Al Dayton, Rick Miller, Mike Milhorne, Buford Lipford and Harley Taylor. Family will receive friends 6-8:00 p.m. Saturday, March 20th, 2004 at the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Adventa Hospice, 684 Highway 91, Elizabethton, Tennessee 37643. Friends may also call at the residence at anytime.
