George L. Mckinney, age 63, of 271 Corner Road, Mountain City, Tennessee, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, October 7, 2007 at the Johnson City Medical Center, following a brief illness. He was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania on October 25, 1942 to the late George L. McKinney Sr. and Lillian Dyer Mckinney. He was a member of the Berea Baptist church. He was an evening security guard at the Johnson County High School and enjoyed woodworking. George is survived by his wife, Patty L. McKinney, of the home; two sons: Rusty J. McKinney of Mountain City, Tennessee and George Louis McKinney III of Sorento, Florida; granddaughter, Savannah Nichole McKinney of Mountain City, Tennessee; great grandson, Devin McKinney of Sorento, Florida and special friends: Art Lowe of Bristol, Virginia and J.R. Lowe of Morganton, North Carolina. Funeral Services for George L. McKinney will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Monday, October 9, 2006 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel with Rev. Roy Dowell and Rev. Eugene Ward officiating. The family will receive friends from 6-8:00 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside Services and Interment will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 10, 2006 from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be: David Smiley, Glen James, Danny Wilson, Lester Dunn, Blake Fenner, Jerry Morefield, Doug Osborne and Pete Pavusek. Honorary Pallbearers are: Lee L. Roark, Tommy Roark, Ann Whitmer, Dr. Martin Tran, John Payne, Ed Gentry and Men of the Berea Baptist Church.
