Gladys Ruth Gambill

Gladys Gambill, age 93, went to her heavenly home, to be with her Lord, on Thursday, May 23, 2024 at Johnston memorial Hospital. She was born April 6, 1931 to the late Elbert and Mae Head Wilfong.  In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two brothers, Jack Wilfong and Donald Wilfong; sister, Jolene Gernentz and a grandson, Jeremy Dunn.

Gladys attended Dewey Christian Church until she wasn't able.  She loved her animals, especially her cats.  We nicknamed her "The cat Lady" because of all the cats that gathered at her home.

Those left to cherish her memory include her two daughters, Donna Dunn and Ila Mink of Mountain City; grandson, Jason Dunn of Mountain City; niece, Nancy Hayes of Winchester, VA; nephew, Jackie Wilfong; several great and great great nieces and nephews.  Special friends are Muriel Payne, Julia Stout, Kate McCoy and Mike and Susan also survive.

Funeral service for Gladys will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2024 at 1 pm at Dewey Christian Church with Bud Gentry officiating.  The family will receive friends from 12 pm - 1 pm prior to the service.  A graveside service will immediately follow at The Dunn Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be friends

Honorary pallbearers are the hospital doctors, all the hospice nurses, Chaplain and all the hospital nurses that took care of our precious mommy on 3100.
