Gladys Nataline Mason Brooks

Gladys Nataline Mason Brooks, age 81, of 329 Deer Run Road, Laurel Bloomery, TN, went home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, March 7, 2006, at her residence. She was born August 24, 1924, to the late William and Lottie Sherrer Mason. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, Randolph Mason, a sister Leeanna Duane, and a grandson Jadey Dunn. She was a native of Baltimore, MD, but had made her home in Mountain City for the past 38 years. Gladys had retired from the Mountain City Glove Plant and was a homemaker. She loved playing Bingo, and was of the Baptist faith. Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Leslie L. Brooks of the home; one daughter, Jean Linton of Mountain City; four granddaughters: Susan Trivett, Robin Ellison, Alicia Dunn, and Heather Maze, all of Mountain City; one grandson, Charley Brown of Mechanicsville, VA; eight great-grandchildren: Travis Ellison, Tyler Trivett, Eden Taylor, Mackenzie Maze, and Jadey Preston Henderson, all of Mountain City, Charli Brown of Bluff City, TN, Joshua Brown and Austin Brown, of Mechanicsville, VA. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Funeral Services for Gladys Brooks will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 10, 2006, from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Jim Swoager to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Kerry Gentry. Graveside Services will follow in the Sunset Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be: Junior Maze, Lester Morley, Charlie Blankenbecker, Randy Sheffey, and Steve Brown. Honorary Pallbearers are: Lonnie Shepherd, Dr. Donald Tarr, Jack Sutherland, Mark Flahart, Hobert Dunn, Ronnie Lowe, retired employees of the Mountain City Glove Plant, and members of the First District Volunteer Fire Department. A visitation will be held from 1:00 till 2:00 p.m. Friday, prior to the service, at the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. At other times, friends may call at the residence of her daughter, Jean Linton, 2444 Cold Springs Road, Mountain City, TN 37683.
