Grant E. Thomas

Mr. Grant E. Thomas, age 92, of Zionville, NC passed away in Watauga Medical Center on Wednesday, June 4, 2014. He was born July 3, 1921 to the late Wiley Thomas and Nora C. Norris Thomas. He was a member of Friendship Baptist Church. His hobbies included farming, horses, raising cattle and he especially loved his tractor. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hassie Virginia May Thomas, and five brothers: Fred, Raymond, Bill, Sherman and Mack Thomas. Survivors include: one brother, Ray Thomas of Elkton, Maryland and several nieces and nephews. He also has an aunt and several relatives living in Greene County, TN. Funeral services for Grant E. Thomas will be conducted at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, June 7, 2014 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Gale Hartley to officiate. The family will receive friends from 2:00 p.m.-4:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will follow in Zionville Baptist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be family and friends. Honorary pallbearer will be Ken Thomas. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Friendship Baptist Church, 3247 NC 88 W, Zionville, NC 28698.
