Granville Cordell

Granville Cordell, age 80, of 211 Cotton Lane, Butler, Tennessee, passed away Sunday, April 11, 2004 at Ivy Hall Nursing Home, Elizabethton, Tennessee, following an extended illness. A native of Carter County, Tennessee, he was born October 15, 1923 to the late Mr. and Mrs. Darris Cordell. He was a retired farmer and former employee of Klopman Mills of Mountain City, Tennessee and enjoyed music. Granville was a member of the Elk Park Christian Church. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife; Pearl Guy Cordell, one son; Ray Cordell, one daughter; Claire Belle Cordell, one sister; Edith Davis and two brothers; Wayne Cordell and Jim Cordell. Granville is survived by five daughters; Ella Smith of Alabama, Lestie Coutner, Anita Courtner both of Butler, Tennessee, Delores Jones of North Carolina and Judy Reece of Watauga, Tennessee, three sons; Gerald Cordell of Virginia, Roger Cordell and Gary Cordell both of Butler, Tennessee, six brothers; Glen Cordell, Loren Cordell, Gene Cordell, all of Hampton, Tennessee, Dan Cordell of Alabama, Oliver Cordell of North Carolina and Zane Cordell of Ohio, two sisters; Janice Cordell of Hampton, Tennessee and Felistie Cordell of Greenville, Tennessee, 27 grandchildren, 34 great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Granville will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 14, 2004 from the Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 10-11:00 a.m. prior to Services. Graveside Services will follow from the Flat Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons. Friends may also call at the residence of daughter Lestie Courtner, 209 Cotton Lane, Butler, Tennessee, at anytime.
