Hassell Skeens Sr 81 of Morristown Tn. completed his journey on earth on Monday October 9,2023. Hassell was born February 22.1942 to the late Gertie and Gladys Keen Skeens of Grundy Va. He was a veteran of the Korean War, where he served his country proudly. Following his discharge from the Army, Hassell made Ohio his home where he worked and retired from con-Agra foods in Archibold Oh. Upon his retirement he settled in Morristown Tn, where he enjoyed remodeling homes and working in his yard until his health slowed him down. Hassell believed in doing the job right the first time, insisting things be done a certain way. Hassell loved his family and friends. When his decline in health prevented him from traveling, he greatly enjoyed talking on the phone with friends, and family. In addition to his parents, Hassell was preceded in death by his grandparents Mose and Martha Sawyers Keen, and Linkous and Maggie Stiltner Skeens, his precious daughter Lori Skeens Anson Cook, 2 grandsons Timothy Anson, and Dewayne Stacy, 4 brothers Ray, Estil, Bobby, and Otis Skeens. He leaves behind to cherish his memories, his former wife, mother of his children, and lifelong friend Ms Beulah Skeens of Mtn City, Tn. His son Hassell skeens ll of Bostwick, Fl. 10 grandchildren, Amanda Skeens, and Ambor Gaither both of Ga. Jim Anson of Mtn City Tn, and Gavin Cook, of Boone, NC. Ansleigh, Debbie, Ashlyn, Hassell lll, Trevor, and Ashton all of Bostwick, Fl. 16 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. 2 sisters Helen Keen, and Linda Lester, several nieces and nephews, as well as his faithful and loving furry, companion ”Scooter”. He will be sorely missed. His son Hassell would like to thank special friends that were always to there to help with his dad over the last few years with anything that was needed. Mr Jerry Betkey and his wife Julie, and Mr. James Crockett, there aren’t enough words to thank you all for the love and care you have shown Mr. Skeens. Funeral service for Hassell will be conducted on Friday, October 13, 2023 at 7 pm in the Charles B. Hux Chapel at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 pm prior to the service. Military graveside service will be conducted Sunday, October 15, 2023 at 1 pm accorded by the Johnson County Honor Guard in the Gambill Springs Cemetery.
