Helen "Jean" Dugger, born August 25, 1943, passed away on May 25, 2026, in Mountain City, Tennessee. Her life was marked by devotion to her family, a strong faith, and a dedication to the simple pleasures that brought her joy.
Jean had dedicated many years of her life working at the Hardwood Furniture Factory before retiring. Beyond her professional accomplishments, she found true happiness in engaging activities such as puzzles and latch hook crafting. An avid reader of the Bible, Jean’s daily prayers and deep faith were central to her life, reflecting her profound commitment to God, who held a very special place in her heart.
She was preceded in death by her beloved parents, J.C. Brown and Beatrice Norris Brown; her devoted husband, Russell Dugger; and her son, Tony Dugger. Their memories will live on in the hearts of those who knew her best.
Jean leaves behind a loving family who will celebrate her memory and the legacy of love she imparted. She is survived by her children: Patty Ellis of Mountain City, Timothy Dugger and his wife Kathy of Conover, North Carolina; Roger Dugger and his wife Lois of Mountain City, Tennessee; Kimberly Young and her husband Ronnie of Vale, North Carolina; and Kristy Dugger and Brian DuPerry of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee. Her grandchildren—Thomas, Sidney, Troy, Cecily, Josh, Derek, Kelly, Joy, Jason, Kasey, Russell, Megan, Brian, and Connor—along with her great-grandchildren—Thomas, Devlin, Julianna, Mason, Noah, Michael, Bryceon, Jaxon, Kasey, Russell, Megan, Brian, and Connor—carry forward her legacy of love and faith.
Friends and family are invited to pay their respects during the visitation on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home, located at 300 W Main Street, Mountain City, Tennessee. The funeral service will be held the following day, Thursday, May 28, 2026, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home with Terry Steele and Ronnie Young officiating. A graveside service will immediately follow in the Bakers Gap Baptist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Cory Johnson, Evan Nichols, Conner Dugger, Brian DuPerry Jr., Michael Isaac, Noah Nichols, and Jason Dugger.
Honorary pallbearers are Brian DuPerry Sr., Russell West and Jayce Dugger.
Jean's life was a testament to the power of faith, family, and perseverance. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, yet her spirit will remain a guiding light for her family and community.
