Helen Elizabeth Shepherd

Helen Elizabeth Shepherd (nee Ross), age 89 of Amherst, Ohio passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2025.  She was born August 22, 1936 in Barton City, Michigan.  Mrs. Shepherd was a member of the Shady Valley Baptist Church, Where she served the Lord in many capacities.  She was a nurse and enjoyed caring for people.  She had amazing skills in quilting, crafts, knitting, crocheting and baking.  She especially loved her family, and spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren. 

She was preceded in death by her husband Denzle Gerald Shepherd, brothers Donald Ross, James Ross, Carl Ross, and Ernest Ross.  Her sisters Barbara Sluder and Wanda Wakeman and her granddaughter Kendall Shepherd.  

Her survivors include four sons; Robert Wayne Shepherd and wife Lillian of Amherst; Ohio, Larry Dean Shepherd and wife Celeste of Avon Lake, Ohio Gregg Lee Shepherd and wife Kristy of Elyria, Ohio,  Mitchell Wade Shepherd and wife Gwyn of Lorain, Ohio;  Her sister Roseann Johnson and husband Dennis of LaPorte, Indiana;  Twelve grandchildren and eleven great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, special friends and family also survive. 

 The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 pm on Monday, December 29, 2025 at Shady Valley Baptist Church 1339 Hwy 91, Shady Valley, Tennessee 37688 with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 pm with Paul Reynolds to officiate. Burial will be in the Shady Valley Memorial Gardens.    

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Shady Valley Volunteer Fire Dept, 10114 Hwy 421 North, Shady Valley, Tennessee 37688 or the Shady Valley Baptist Church 1339 Hwy 91, Shady Valley, Tennessee 37688.

A celebration of her life will be held in Ohio at a later date.
