Hugh Hamilton Morrison

Hugh Hamilton Morrison, age 89, of 424 North Church Street, passed away Wednesday, October 22, 2003 at the Mountain City Care Center. He was a native of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee and was born September 19, 1914 to the late William S. and Alice E. Hawkins Morrison. Hugh was preceded in death by his wife, Opal Agnus Love Morrison and sixteen sisters and brothers. He had retired at age 55 from the United States Postal Service after 35 years of service and was an active member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on several boards and committees. Hugh enjoyed collecting stamps and coins and was a member of the Taylorsville Masonic Lodge #243 F&AM and the Lion's Club. Hugh is survived by two sons; William Joseph Morrison of Lake Wiley, South Carolina and Bob Morrison of Mountain City, Tennessee, one sister; Hattie Morrison of Laurel Bloomery, Tennessee, two grandchildren; Donna Morrison Tucker and Rob Morrison , three great grandchildren; Kelsey, Jessica and Austin Tucker all of Charlotte, North Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Hugh Hamilton Morrison will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, October 25, 2003 from the First United Methodist Church of Mountain City with Rev. Margaret Owens-Yates to officiate. Family will receive friends 12:30 p.m. - 1:30 p.m. prior to services at the church. Graveside Services will follow in the Mountain View Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Rob Morrison, Jerry Tucker, Paul Morrison, Dick Walsh, Nelson Gray and other Members of the First United Methodist Church. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. John Whitlock and Doug Hornsby. Family requests that no food be brought to the home and that friends may come by Hux-Lipford Funeral Home to sign the registry book prior to Saturday's Services.
