Ida Belle Pleasant

Mrs. Ida Belle Pleasant, age 68, of 141 Butler Lane, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, August 16, 2007 at the Mountain City Care Center following an extended illness. She was born September 12, 1938 to the late Daniel Taylor and Nell Harper Taylor. Ida was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church and she loved working word search puzzles. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bennie Pleasant; a son, Jeff Pleasant, a sister, Delia Jane Taylor and a brother, Alfred Taylor. Mrs. Pleasant was a former employee of Leco Mfg. Plant, Southern Glove Plant, and Bike Athletic of Mountain City, Tennessee. Survivors include three daughters, Janet Mahala of Mountain City, TN, Patricia and husband Steve Payne, Mountain City, Tennessee. Melissa and husband Billy Scott, Ashe County, N.C. Three sons, James, and wife Kathy Parker, Butler, Tennessee, Benjamin Pleasant of Lenoir, N.C. and Michael Pleasant of the home, Two sisters, Francis Shipley of Johnson City, Tennessee; Dicie Rouse Johnson City, Tennessee, one brother, George Taylor Fayetteville, N.C. 13 grandchildren; 4 great grandchildren, several nieces, nephews, and her special pets Flossie and Peanut. Funeral services for Mrs. Ida Belle Pleasant will be conducted 2:00 p.m. Monday, August 20, 2007 from the Charles B. Hux Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. Allen Koch officiating. Music will be under the direction of her granddaughter, Jessica Mahala Hunt. The family will receive friends from 12:00 ? 1:45 p.m. prior to the services at the funeral home. Graveside services and interment will follow from the Phillippi Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be; Gary Mahala, Josh Dollar, Jason Hunt, Dustin Hughes, Daryll Ward, and Bill Scott. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Jim Shine, Dr. Steven Smith, and The Staff of the Mountain City Care Center. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 141 Butler Lane, Mountain City, TN.
