Ilene Lawson, age 63, of 630 Maple Street, Mountain City, Tennessee, passed away on Thursday, October 6, 2005 at her residence following a courageous battle with cancer. A native of Wolford, Virginia, she was born on July 16, 1942 to the late William and Alka Stacey Payne. In addition to her parents, Ilene was preceded in death by one brother, Joe Payne and special friend Ramona Church. She was a member of Sunshine Church of Christ and also attended the Victory Chapel Church. She was also former president of the Women's Auxiliary of Pleasant View Christian Church. Ilene enjoyed flowers, working in her flower gardens and crafts. She is survived by her husband Al Lawson of the home; four daughters: Cathy Zingler of Marietta, GA, Tikki Norris, Leta Dorman, both of Mountain City, TN and Missy Cornett of Murrells Inlet, SC; two sons: John Alexander of Butler, TN and P.D. Lawson of Mountain City, TN; two sisters: Beulah Skeens of Mountain City, TN and Virginia Kobert of Chicago, IL; four brothers: Earl Payne, Jeffrey Payne, both of Mountain City,TN, James Payne and Ralph Payne, both of Chicago, IL; eleven grandchildren; one great grandchild; several nieces and nephews and special friends: Willie Dickens, Clersa Sheppard, Betty Stout, Margaret Cornett and Elizabeth Gentry. Funeral Services for Ilene Lawson will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 9, 2005 from the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel with Minister Kent Wilson and Rev. Carroll Hayworth to officiate. Music will be under the direction of Mr. Ronnie Manuel. Graveside Services and Interment will follow from the Gambill Springs Cemetery. Active Pallbearers will be Grandsons: Jeremy Alexander, Bronson Alexander, Jake Dorman, Zachery Dorman, Ray Zingler and Nicholas Lawson. Honorary Pallbearers are: Dr. Buddy Clayton, Bill Brookshire and Monroe Johnson. The family will receive friends from 5:30-7:30 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2005 at the Hux-Tetrick Funeral Home Chapel.
