Ira Harmon, age 63, of 4785 Dry Hill Road, Butler, Tennessee, passed away Thursday, June 17, 2004 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Avery County, North Carolina, he was born January 13, 1941 to the late Earl and Senia Hicks Harmon. In addition to his parents, Ira was preceded in death by three brothers; twin infant brother, Arlan; infant brother, Richard and Junior Harmon. Ira was a farmer and carpenter. He was of the Baptist Faith. Ira is survived by his wife, Katherine Harmon of the home; three sisters, Betty Montlene and husband Jimmy of Millville, NJ, Louiese Taylor and husband Donnie of Charlotte, NC, Helen Buchanan and husband, Sammy of Hickory, NC; one brother, Allen Harmon and wife Shirley of Elk Park, NC; special cousin, Lodia Utsmon and husband Layman of Jonesborough, TN; many special friends in Tennessee, North Carolina and South Carolina and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services for Ira will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, June 19, 2004 from the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home Chapel with Mr. Tom Williams to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will follow at the Sunset Memorial Park, Mountain City, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be Kenny Lewis, Johnny Dugger, Roger Norris, Wayne Truesdale, Ricky Guy and Jerry Greene. Honorary Pallbearers are: Tunnie Freeman, Horace Crawford, Bob Doyle, Dewey Wright, Bruce Triplett and John Triplett. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to services at the Funeral Home Chapel. At other times, friends may call at the residence.
