J. D. Price

J. D. Price, age 80, of 105 Hall Hill Road, Mountain City, TN passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2016 at his residence. He was born November 28, 1935 to the late Lonnie Price and Devona Vanover Price. Mr. Price was a member of Heath Union Church and he enjoyed playing the guitar and fishing. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one daughter: Donna Mahala; three brothers: R.B. Price, Dewey Price and Feary Price; and one sister: Magdaline Roark. Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mabel Woodard Price; one daughter: Nancy Nichols and husband Mike of Mountain City, TN; one son: Jack Price of Mountain City, TN; son-in-law: Jack Mahala; one sister: Joyce Ann Barlow of Elkton, MD; one brother: Clalley Price of Avondale, PA; four grandchildren: Smantha Reece and husband Skyler of Alburquerque, NM, Ryan Mahala and Michael Nichols, both of Mountain City, TN and Joni and Jeff Banks of Creston, NC; four great grandchildren: Chole Nichols, Dylan Nichols, Breanna Banks and Maranda Banks; several nieces and nephews and special friend Homer Vanover. Funeral services for J. D. Price will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Friday, August 26, 2016 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Rev. James Gentry and Rev. Homer Vanover officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m.- 11:00 a.m. prior to the service. Graveside and interment will follow in Mahala Cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Ryan Mahala, Jeff Banks, Michael Nichols, Skyler Reece, Andy Woods, Dylan Nichols and Bobby Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Rick Roark and Mike Nichols. At other times friends may call at the residence, 105 Hall Hill Road, Mountain City, TN. Professional services for the Price family are being provided by Hux-Lipford Funeral Home.
