Jack The Bread Man Selfe

Jack "The Bread Man" Selfe, age 70, of 2108 Crossroads Road Drive, Mountain City, Tennessee 37683, went to be with the Lord on May 17, 2005 at his residence following an extended illness. A native of Meadowview, Virginia, he was born on August 24, 1934 to the late John and Bessie Selfe. In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by two sons: Brett and Michael Selfe; six sisters: Ethel Smeleser, Ora Roe, Stella Dickson, Mary Raines, Cleo Urbanczyk and Betty Combs and three brothers: Claude Selfe, John Selfe and Jerry Selfe. He was a graduate of Bethel High School. Jack was former owner and operator of Lasting Memories Photography Studio and was a former employee of Kerns Bread, where he had been employed for 35 years and had ran the Mountain City Route for the bread company. He enjoyed photography, was a fan of the St. Louis Cardinals, Green Bay Packer and of Rusty Wallace. Jack was a United States Army Veteran. Jack is survived by one daughter, Diane Johnson of Bristol, Tennessee; one step-son, Michael Conners and his mother April Selfe of Butler, Tennessee; one sister, Nelle Lilly of Bristol, Virginia; one brother, Earl G. Selfe of Kingsport, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Jason Garrett of Bristol, Virginia and Nichole Johnson of Bristol, Tennessee and three great grandchildren. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Private Memorial Services will be held at a later date.
