Jake James Price

Mr. Jake James Price, 73, of Rt. 4 Cooper Forks Road, Mountain City, TN passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, October 14, 2008 at the home of his son James. Jake was preceded in death by his parents, Coote and Florence Miller Price; a brother, Howard Price; and a sister, June Price Cooper. Jake was retired due to disability after working many years at Permalite in Chicago, IL. He was of the Baptist faith. His hobbies were going to Doe Valley Auction, fishing, and a good card game. Jake will always be remembered as a proud father to his children and grandchildren and a “True Friend” to many. Jake’s personal trademark was his “Black Cowboy Hat” which he wore proudly.

 

Jake is survived by his son James “J.P.” Price and his wife Jimi of Mountain City, TN; his daughter Lynn Yvette Price of Alabama; a son Gene Wells of Alabama; a daughter Tina Maddox also of Alabama; and a very “Special Lady”, the mother of his children, Deveda “Ann” Wells also of Alabama. Jake was also the grandfather to Crystal, Troy and Ashley Taylor, J.R., Clinton and Dominique Maddox, and Emily and Abigail Wells, all of Alabama; Kela and Kevin Arnold of Elizabethton, TN; his great grandchildren: Alexia “Lexie” Taylor and Camden Hazelrig of Alabama and Hannah and Jacob Arnold of Elizabethton, TN. Jake is also survived by his loving sister Kathaleen Price Wallace and her husband Bill of Mountain City, TN. H was also survived by many nieces and nephews and tons of friends.

 

Funeral services for Jake James Price will be conducted at 8:00 p.m. Friday, October 17, 2008 from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of Hux-Lipford Funeral home with Rev. Eddie Porter officiating and a eulogy given by his son. Active pallbearers will be Gary Greer, Bill Dugger, Gene Wells, and James “J.P.” Price. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Raina Sluder, Dr. John Fincher, Dr. Garcia, Bill Wallace, Troy Taylor, Kevin Arnold, Andy Swiney, Joe Eller, Fred Dowell and Jeremy Lunceford. Graveside service and interment will be held from the Price Cemetery at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 18, 2008. The family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Friday prior to the services.

 

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, %Lynn Cuddy, Farmers State Bank, P.O. Box 9,  Mountain City, TN 37683.
