James Carl Blackburn

James Carl Blackburn, age 57, of 721 Boone Street, Kingsport, Tennessee, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, November 14, 2006 at Brookhaven Manor in Kingsport, Tennessee. James was born on October 4, 1949 in Johnson County, Tennessee to Carl Blackburn and Gladys Greer Blackburn of Kingsport, Tennessee. He was preceded in death by one brother, Elbert C. Blackburn and one brother-in-law, Fred Parsons Jr. James was former owner and operator of Blackburn Construction Company of Spartanburg, S.C. He enjoyed working and making various items with wood. He is survived by one son, Shane Blackburn of Butler, Tennessee; three sisters: Shirley Witcher and husband Doc, Bakersfield, Debbie Reichert and husband Mike, all of Bakersfield, California and Audrey Parsons, Kingsport, TN and several nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be conducted on Thursday, November 16, 2006 at 7:00 p.m. from the Charles B. Hux Memorial Chapel of the Hux-Lipford Funeral Home with Mr. Herbert Greer to officiate. Graveside Services and Interment will be held on Friday, November 17, 2006 at 1:00 p.m. from the Blackburn Family Cemetery, Butler, Tennessee. Active Pallbearers will be: Fred Parsons III, Jimmy Dale Johnson, Mike Witcher, Mike Harris, Mike Warden and Darrell Ward. The family will receive friends from 6-7:00 p.m. on Thursday, prior to the Services, from at the Funeral Home At other times friends may call at the residence of his son, Shane Blackburn, 112 Copley Branch Road, Butler, TN 37640. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Cobbs Creek Baptist Church., Butler, Tennessee 37640.
