Mr. James A. "Jim" Brown, age 88, of 169 Joe Tester Lane, Mountain City, TN passed away Wednesday, September 12, 2012 in the Sycamore Shoals Hospital, Elizabethton, TN. He was born March 17, 1924 to the late Wiley Brown and Susan Morefield Brown. Mr. Brown was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. He had worked at Broyhill Furniture, Lenoir, NC. He loved hunting and fishing and watching western movies. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Vennie Tester Brown in 1981, a son J. D. Brown in 2001, three sisters and nine brothers. Survivors include: a daughter: Ann and husband Sam Cress, Mountain City, TN and daughter-in-law: Sylvia Brown, Conover, NC; sisters: Hazel Stallard, Hudson, NC and Hassie and husband Sam Piercy, Lenoir, NC; brothers: Harvey and wife Lucille Brown, Mountain City, TN; Roscoe and Shannon Brown, Marion, Ohio; McArthur and wife Agnes Brown, Lenoir, NC; Clifford and Pearl Brown, Hudson, NC;step-mother,Denia Brown, one grandson: Keith Brown and wife Lisa, Fayetteville, NC; one granddaughter: Jamie Brown, Newton, NC; great grandchildren: Ethan and Emily Brown, and Ritchie Ballard, several nieces and nephews,and special friends, Glen and Lois Boling. Funeral services for Mr. James A. Brown will be conducted at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 15, 2012 from the Pleasant Grove Baptist Church with Rev. Jim Norman officiating. The family will receive friends from 1:00 - 2:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Graveside service and interment will follow the funeral service in the Pleasant Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers will be nephews and friends. At other times friends may call at the residence of Harvey and Lucille Brown, 1260 Crackers Neck Rd, Mountain City, TN.
