James Gary Roberts, a beloved husband, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on February 2, 2026, at the age of 73. He was born on April 9, 1952, in the same cherished town where he spent his life.
Gary was known for his vibrant personality and for bringing joy to every gathering, often stepping into the spotlight with his guitar and captivating friends and family alike with his singing. He loved fishing and being outdoors. His passion for farming reflected his deep-rooted connection to the land and the joy he derived from nurturing it. Gary was the life of the party, a witty jokester who could light up any room with his charm and humor. He never left the Family Farm and was always around looking after his mother and Father. If he knew someone needed his help or he could help someone, he would do all he could. He was content with what he had, appreciated the simple things in life, and loved old TV shows and westerns.
He leaves behind his devoted wife of 47 years, Alice Roberts, and a close-knit family comprising his sister, Janice Ann Roberts Howard, whom he spoke to daily; his brother-in-law, Joe Horne; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Amy and Vince.
Gary was preceded in death by his parents, Hugo Roberts and Sue Lowe Roberts, and by his brother, Jerry Roberts, and sister, Norma Jean Roberts Humphrey.
A funeral service for Gary will be conducted at 2:00 PM on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Hux & Lipford Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM prior to the funeral service. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Glenn Holman, Timmy Horne, Carl Howard, Alberto Medrano, Bobby Stout, Josh Bryant, and Chris Campbell.
Honorary pallbearers are Joe Horne, Gary Horne, Joseph Sherwood, Steve McCoy, Stevie Cress and Joe Sherwood.
James Gary Roberts will be remembered not only for his laughter and love for family and friends but also for his enduring spirit and the many lives he touched. His legacy of friendship and musical gifts will be cherished forever.
